Dust Free Workshop????

Well, not totally dust free, that probably isn’t achievable in a woodshop.   But the CUWS School of Woodworking just got a lot closer.  Our stationary power tools are now all outfitted with fully automatic dust collection.  We have now installed the just released iVac Pro Automatic Blast Gates on every tool that has a shared dust collector.  These blast gates, in conjunction with the iVac Tool (current sensors) and iVac Switch (dust collector controllers) mean that when you turn on a power tool, the blast gate on that tool opens automatically and the dust collector turns on.  And when you turn off the tool, the blast gate closes and the dust collector turns off.  There is no more forgetting to turn the dust collector on, or forgetting to open the blast gate because everything is automatic.  Every tool is fitted with a blast gate,  and therefore only those tools which are turned on are open to the dust collector which means that most times, only one tool at a time is connected to the dust collector.  This maximizes the airflow and the dust collection efficiency.  And of course our sanders, track saws, and hand-held routers are a Festool which means that they too have the most efficient dust collection in the industry.

Our health is important to all of us and this is just one way of insuring that our instructors and our students are exposed to as little airborne dust as possible.  And not having to worry about blast gates makes your woodworking experience more pleasurable.  Stop by the store for a demonstration of the new wireless iVac dust control system.

NEW Television Sponsorship

CU Woodshop Supply is proud to announce that we are sponsoring The Woodsmith Shop for woodworkers in Central and West Central Illinois. The show can be seen Saturdays starting October 5, 2013 from 5:00 to 5:30. PBS stations running the show are WSEC Springfield/Jacksonville, WMEC Macomb and WQEC Quincy. ENJOY!

TV Coverage of our Rocking Chair and Guitar Classes!

We had local television crews on site the first week in May to report on a couple of our most popular project classes, namely, rocking chair and guitar building. And as a special note, we found out Woodworker's Journal will be doing a feature article on us in June and highlighting our Morris Chair class—we can't wait! Woodworking in the New Year

We are happy to start out the new year with a positive mention in the Woodworker's Journal online edition. An interview was conducted with our Lead Instructor, Mike VanPelt. Take a look at what Woodworker's Journal had to say: See Article.
