About Nick Cioni: Singer, songwriter, and luthier Nicholas Cioni began building stringed instruments while an undergraduate at the University of Illinois. Nick's passion for guitar drove him to study the Spanish tradition of classical guitar construction. Spanish style classical and Flamenco guitars are considered by many to be the most challenging guitars to build and demonstrate mastery in the art of luthiery. In addition to the classical guitar, Nick builds various acoustic and solid body instruments on commission.

Cioni explores various techniques & ideas about traditional & modern instrument making. He first apprenticed with Luthier/Guitar Maker Gary Bray in Germantown IL. Gary owns & operates Bray Guitars and specializes in creating custom hand-made classical and steel string acoustic guitars. After completing his two year apprenticeship with Gary Bray, Nick studied guitar construction with Pepe Romero Jr. and worked with Eugene Clark studying French polish and traditional Spanish guitar construction.

Nick is currently focused on designing, building, and creating fine handmade instruments under his own name "Cioni Guitars". His designs include Classical and Flamenco guitars based on traditional designs, steel string acoustics, electric, bass, arch top guitars, and custom ukuleles. Cioni's instruments exemplify master quality craftsmanship, superior attention to detail, and a refined French polishing technique. Nick takes great pride in his instruments and is rewarded by putting his guitars in the hands of musicians who need professional quality instruments for personal enjoyment, recording, and live performance.
