About Mike VanPelt: Michael Van Pelt is a woodworking and machinery fanatic who loves to share his knowledge with others. Michael has worked in the woodworking industry for over 30 years, beginning his career as a woodworking instructor at the Cutting Edge in San Diego, CA.

He has since worked in the sales of industrial woodworking equipment, as a demonstrator of Shopsmiths, as co-owner of a woodworking equipment supply store and as manager of a Woodcraft store.

In the early 90's Mike left sales to follow his dream of operating his own woodworking school. During his nine years as the operator of the American Sycamore Retreat, he also toured the country demonstrating Delta and Porter Cable tools at woodworking shows and expos.

Although Michael's woodworking school became a victim of the recession, he has returned to his calling of teaching the construction of Arts & Crafts furniture as an instructor at the CU Woodshop School of Woodworking.

Michael is engaged to a wonderful lady and shares his home with two boxers (Rocky & Stacy) and a spoiled rotten beagle named Charlie. Michael is thrilled to be back doing what he loves, teaching woodworking and would like to invite all woodworking, enthusiasts to stop in and see our new school.
